Long time no Tumble, but our guild finally killed Cho’gall, Nefarian and Al’akir on normal mode. Purple phoenix overload! (Yeah that bitch below has the original phoenix, nerf them.)
Dear Blizzard,
I am a warlock. Up until TBC I played a mage. I rerolled to warlock because I preferred a playstyle that wasn’t 1 button spamming. Affliction warlock was perfect to me, and I really enjoyed it. I have never played anything but affliction, as I explain to people time and time again - I /do/ have a mage, and if I wanted to play a mage, I would play my mage.
Let me say this, affliction has never been that huge on DPS. Not compared to destruction, not in TBC, and not in WotLK. My DPS was never amazing, I was never top, but I enjoyed my class - that was the main thing. I play only in PvE - raid scenarios. I enjoy my time in a 25-man raiding guild. I hardly ever PvP - so this entire post is written from the perspective of a PvE-er.
Come Cataclysm I hear of nerfs. More nerfs?! What do warlocks need nerfing for? We were never /that/ great anyway! But fine, I continue to play my beloved affliction… and in the past two weeks, I have managed to keep up with my rogue friend in DPS, at the top of the meters in a 25-man raid. Amazing!
How is this?! I thought that warlocks were nerfed?! Well, I can tell you, it was the ISF. That talent, although very destro in nature, and clunky in its mechanics, was the affliction warlock’s saving grace! It’s what made us raid viable, and what made me feel as wanted as a hunter!
But now you have decided that, due to a few people’s moaning, you will take ISF away from us. That is fine. But people were not asking for you to take away their 15% haste buff, they were asking you to change the mechanic. If you do not replace that 15% haste buff with something else, like the 8% spell damage increase you have given destro, then affliction warlocks will go back to being the low DPS that they always were before.
On top of that, what is this you taking away our Fel Armor health regeneration? The last time I checked, warlocks didn’t need to keep an eye on their mana because they could easily life tap to keep themselves topped up. This is one of the more unique things about a warlock! We do not have to watch our mana, make sure we have adequate regen or use an evocation mid-fight to have a second chance at depleting our entire pool - we simply have to make sure that we have enough health coming in!
Without the health regeneration from fel armor, and with the pants healing that drain life and siphon life provides, the reliance on healers grows ever higher. You will hear them complain yourselves, if you listen quite hard enough, about the mana preservation problems they have. Now what is that extra 10% mana going to do for us? Nothing! You may as well allow us to grant an additional 10% mana to a healing class in order for them to keep us alive as we life tap throughout a fight! We are not mages!
I was enjoying my time at the top - but I was never overpowered. I am one of the better geared raiders in my guild, and I am on par with, or DPSing ever so slightly higher than, similarly geared rogues and hunters, and they are being buffed, or at least not nerfed! Why was this particular nerf called for?
Granted, I will probably never stop playing this game, probably never stop playing my warlock, probably never stop playing affliction, but I have never felt compelled to complain about ANY of the warlock nerfs on the public forums before… but this one touched me in a way I cannot describe.
PLEASE, DON’T DO THIS TO US, BLIZZARD.
Sincerely,
Maccath
We killed Magmaw last night. :) Unfortunately it was on 10man due to lack of signs, and I died halfway through due to overaggro. Oops.
Has anyone else been having fun with the archaeology profession?
I am only on ~125 skill - it seems quite slow to skill up, but there is something strangely addictive about flying around Azeroth trying to piece together ancient artifacts and discover the lore behind them. I am aware there are also pets and other rare items to obtain.
Apart from the items, however, there is something else I noticed about archaeology; it grants huge experience!
At level 83 with rested experience I was getting 1% per dig site. Bored with questing, dungeoning or grinding? Try archaeology!
